Abstract
Energy is the most important of all resources for humankind. Although fossil fuels based energy resources are currently extensively used, their limited reservation in earth-crust and greenhouse effect as a consequence of CO2 emission due to combustion of the fossil fuels are critical issues that need to be resolved. Generation of electricity by harnessing clean, abundant, unlimited solar energy and then combined with efficient energy storage devices are considered one of the most viable approaches to solve the issues on energy. In my talk, I will share our recent research in the area of development of new materials for next generation solar cells, in particular perovskite solar cells, and electrochemical capacitors to deliver cost-effective, reliable energy.
Biography
Dr. Hongxia Wang is currently Associate Professor at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and “Australian Research Council (ARC) Future Fellow”. She received her PhD in Condense Matter Physics from Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Science in 2005. After this, she held variable research positions in Japan, Australia and UK before she took the permanent position at Queensland University of Technology. Currently, she is leading a research team dedicating to development of cost-effective energy related materials and energy conversion and storage devices including low cost solar cells using perovsktie materials and super-capacitors. Assoc. Prof. Hongxia Wang has published 87 peer-reviewed research papers in high impact international journals including J. Am. Chem. Soc., Nano Energy. She was Awarded “Solar Energy Best Paper Award” by International Solar Energy Society in 2017.
